Government of India has released Advertisement No. 01/IIG/HRD/2026 for the recruitment of Research Scholars (JRF/SRF). A total of 26 vacancies are available for the doctoral program in Geomagnetism and allied areas including Solid Earth, Space Weather, Upper Atmospheric/Ionospheric Physics and Space Plasma Physics. (Tech.) in Physics/Geophysics/Space Physics/Atmospheric Science/Applied Geology/Applied Mathematics/Applied Geophysics/Marine Geophysics and allied subjects with minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA marks in M.Sc. /M.Sc.(Tech.), and B.Sc. in Physics or Mathematics as a subject. Candidates who have appeared in the final year Master examination and expecting the result before August 2026 can also apply. SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PWBD/EWS candidates get 5% relaxation in marks as per UGC norms.
